"Public
schools promote homosexuality as equally moral with
heterosexuality...the Bible assigns the primary role of educator
to parents. It also says that a child, when he grows up, will be
like his teacher. Do we want our children to be
like the ultra-liberal teachers that they have in public school?
Or do we want them to be like their Christian parents?" T.C.

Convention

Government Schools:
Are they Biblical? Is 12
years of secular training producing Godly fruit? What is a parent's

Will your children believe in Jesus
when they graduate from high school?
Homeschooled: 94%
Public Schooled: 15%
94% of homeschoolers keep the faith and 93% continue to attend church
after the high school years. But a shocking 75% to 85% of Christian
children sent to public school drop out of church, and do not hold a
Christian worldview after high school graduation.4
"I think it's time to get our kids out."
- Dr. James Dobson, Focus on the Family5
The most important reason for you to homeschool is
for the sake of your child’s soul.
There has never been a better time to homeschool. Never before have
parents had access to such a wealth of educational resources and
technology for home education. And, Christian homeschool support groups
abound, offering parents a helping hand in homeschooling.
There is an abundance of extra-curricula activities for homeschoolers
to participate in, with opportunities for wholesome friendships and
real-life learning experiences.
Homeschoolers avoid harmful school environments where God is mocked,
where destructive peer influence is the norm, where drugs, alcohol,
promiscuity and homosexuality are promoted, and where school violence is
on the rise.
By grade eight, the average homeschooled student performs four grade
levels above their public and private school counterparts.1
A background in teaching is not necessary; in fact, "home educated
students' test scores remained between the 80th and 90th percentiles,
whether their mothers had a college degree or did not complete high
school."2
"The best way to light our world is to be distinct
from the darkness, and homeschooling certainly helps to set us apart
from the worldly culture in which we live. I have had more opportunities
to share the gospel because I was homeschooled than I ever would have
had in a public school."
- Israel Wayne, Author
Homeschooling from a Biblical Worldview
How to get started homeschooling...
It is natural to feel uncertain when you begin. Pray and trust God for
the confidence you need. Get the support of other believers by
contacting the homeschool organization listed on the back of this
brochure. Research homeschooling by attending Christian homeschool
conventions and reading books like Home Schooling: The Right Choice by
Christopher Klicka.
Keep your young ones home and out of preschool which disrupts family
bonding, teaches inconsistent discipline, and exposes children to
harmful peer behavior.
Avoid government homeschooling programs such as "charter schools" and
public school independent study programs. These government programs
usurp the father’s God-given headship over the family and focus the
homeschool on humanist goals and curriculum.
Discover the blessings of private Christian homeschooling – your
children will appreciate your caring efforts. In fact, a recent study
found that 95% of the homeschool graduates surveyed were glad that they
were homeschooled.3
"The only realistic way to fulfill the Biblical
mandate to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord
is to homeschool in the current culture."
- Mike Smith, President
Home School Legal Defense Association
What does God say about education?
Homeschooling is the most Biblical form of education.
God addresses parents, not government employees, as the educators of
their own children:
"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down,
and when you rise up."
- Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be
the peace of your children."
- Isaiah 54:13
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will
not depart from it."
- Proverbs 22:6
Jesus said: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both
fall into a pit? A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is
fully trained will be like his teacher."
- Luke 6:39, 40
"Learn not the way of the heathen."
- Jeremiah 10:2
"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools
suffers harm."
- Proverbs 13:20

Zan Tyler, Author of 7
Tools for Cultivating Your Child's Potential, reported that new research
reveals 92% of children from Christian homes will reject
Jesus:
Zan writes, "I spoke this winter at
Sally Clarkson's WholeHearted Mother Conference in
Dallas on "Seven Tools for
Cultivating Your Child's Potential." As I discussed tool
number four (Developing a Christian Worldview), I gave some
of these same startling statistics. One mother sought me out
after the workshop and informed me that her husband works
for Josh McDowell Ministry. She said the statistic they are
now using for evangelical children (actually teens and young
adults) abandoning the faith is 92 percent. 92 percent! That
is catastrophic."
Did you know the latest study by Dr.
Brian Ray discovered 94% of children educated at home will
keep their faith in Jesus?
______________________________________
85% of children from Christian homes
that attend public schools for 12 years will reject Christ
by high school graduation.
When children spend 12 years being
educated in a system, with teachers and curriculum that
teach God does not exist, they will develop attitudes that
reflect what they are taught in this system. The Bible
says, "we shall not sit in the counsel of the wicked...". "A
companion of fools will suffer harm."
The Bible never gave authority for children
to be taught by the government. God's divine authority
for the family is for the parents to train-up their
children. For example, using public schools undermines
the father's role, because he cannot control the views his
children are taught through secular curriculum, or
what un-Godly school-time friends they bond with, or what
liberal thoughts their teachers have and share with his
children.
By supporting the public school system with
our tax dollars, we are supporting abortion (NEA sponsors
abortion marches), school nurses have governmental approval
to take children to have abortions, in California (all
states will soon follow), homosexuality is taught as normal,
safe and loving to children beginning in kindergarten.
Public school American history textbooks teach lies about
the founding of this country, science textbooks teach God
does not exist, health textbooks teach everything but
God's definition of marriage.
It it apparent that all through Scripture,
children from Christian homes are to be educated with the
Bible as their foundation. "An education without the Bible
is useless", stated Noah Webster.

Dr. Simonds contacted parents of church children who went
K-12* in public schools (in 1990) and found that 85% of all
those children left their church and faith by 12th grade.
The Southern Baptist Council on Family Life
reported to the 2002 Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist
Convention that 88 percent of the children raised in
evangelical homes leave church at the age of 18, never to
return;

We acknowledge that this study took into account all forms
of education, but we know that most Baptists (80-90%) send
their kids to public schools.
We hope that this information will help you
see why we feel this message is vital. We will not change
the minds of everyone, but we know that children taught at
home with the Bible as the foundation to their
education have the best chance to not only keep their faith,
but maintain a strong Christian worldview throughout their
lifetime. For more information on the children that keep
their faith who have been homeschooled, visit
www.nheri.org.
Percentages affect peoples thoughts, but it
is not about the percentages, it is about what God has said
how we should raise our children. He is not silent about a
child's education. Education is not neutral. It is
either for Christ or against.
As a final note, Christopher Klicka, author of Home Schooling the Right Choice, (pp. 446)
wrote this:
"God's truth and His principles are the
foundation of all knowledge; children must not only be
taught to believe as Christians but also to think as
Christians; God's principles must be taught to children in a
comprehensive manner on a daily basis; God's truth
speaks to every academic discipline. Where would Satan
like our children to be taught? Sending our children
to modern public education is like playing Russian roulette
with their souls!"
"All
Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for
correction, for training in righteousness". 2 Timothy 3:15
