Considering Home Schooling Ministry Outreach
November 2004 Newsletter

Dear Considering Homeschooling & Homeschooling Families:

Just as we were about to send this e-news report out, we received this letter from a mom who left a Charter school (for more information on Charter Schools visit Quick Links below). You will inspired as you read this testimony and learn how important it is to be teaching from a Godly foundation.

Dear Considering Homeschooling:

Just to let anyone out there who may be wanting to pull from Charter school; we went through this as a family ourselves. I was feeling overwhelmed and inadequate to homeschool (due to probably not having a support group, and the enemy lying to me that I wasn't smart enough to school my kids), so I went to the charter school because I felt I needed the accountability, structure and "free" material.

Soon I was on my knees crying out to the Lord to help me get back to trusting in Him only and Him being all I needed to homeschool. I only lasted 3 months in the K-12 computer charter school (thank the Lord it was only 3 months!), because the Lord brought me out of it. I felt what I had done was to go back to "Egypt" and now I was under the Law and heavy burdens laid upon me. Even so, the Lord was so good, He stayed with me through it all, and eventually both my husband and myself cried out to God and prayed for deliverance and for Him to supply all that was needed to do our homeschooling!

The Lord came through and gave us victory! Since that prayer we were blessed by the Lord to buy our own computer and install all Christian software! Our oldest daughter had such a change in her countenance after we sought the Lord and completely taught her and the rest of our children with all Christian material and of course our Bible! Both my husband have seen her heart and countenance return to the Lord especially in her behavior. While in the charter school she and I would argue a lot.

The Lord would not bless my charter school experience, because it separated Him out. You have to constantly discern the material, and they keep loading you with more stuff to learn and turn in! Exactly what you don't want or need! Anyhow, the victory is great! The children are learning more about Jesus and His word and how to serve Him. There is great peace in our home since we made the decision to give and dedicate our Homeschool to Jesus! Lord Bless you as you keep helping God's people to have His peace and blessing in their Homeschools by encouraging them to stay close to Jesus and put their Homeschool in His hands!

Blessings!

Staying connected with other Christians that privately homeschool is very important. The Christian homeschool community has excellent resources, support groups, classes and field trips. You can find a local support group near you by visiting You Can Homeschool's website listed under Quick Links to the right.

If you have preschool aged children or older children and are considering homeschooling, think about starting a Considering Homeschooling fellowship group to meet like-minded families, discuss, research and learn all about homeschooling from a Christian worldview. Please contact us and we can help you.

Considering Homeschooling is a ministry helping Christian parents with babies, toddlers, preschoolers and with their children in secular schools discover the blessings of a Biblical home education. If you have any questions please contact us, and feel free to forward this newsletter on to your family and friends.

  • A Deeply Divided Country

In an after election news report, it was reported that a large percentage of the voters in Ohio called themselves born again Christians. Could this outpouring of support from the Christian community have affected this election? Absolutely!

Our country is deeply divided. This is why it is more important than ever to not allow your children to be indoctrinated with humanistic and anti-Christian teachings, curriculum, or by peers. Christians can not afford to lose any more ground. When America was founded more than half of the first Congress members were ordained pastors. Now we only have a handful of Congress/House members voting on laws that are born again Christians. Just as Christians have the responsibility to vote, Christians have a responsibility to lead.

We have known for years that the NEA and other state school organizations openly promote homosexuality to children, but did you know about their new agenda of 'gender indentification' -- whereby teachers, administrators, nurses, and psychologists assist your children in discovering whether they are a boy or girl? America's public schools no longer have any desire to implement Godly values or morals as an institution (this is not to include every teacher, but as a whole what they teach and can teach is valueless by God's standards). Consider these statistics:

In 1988, 74.9 percent of the American public thought that sex between two people of the same gender was always wrong. By 1998, the percentage had fallen to 54.6 percent. If the same trend continues in just 4 years only 34% will consider homosexuality wrong, and in 14 years only 14% of the population will believe in marriage between one man and one women.

Those against the Biblical authority in the public schools will become even more aggressive in their attempt to indoctrinate and change the hearts of millions children from Christian homes. Who's watching our children? Jesus said, "If you are not for me you are against me". Train up your children with this in mind: Are public/secular schools for Jesus or against? Is your home for Jesus or against? The answer should be clear where your children should be educated. Christians must rescue their children from secular schools and secular homeschooling programs.

Islamic indoctrination of grade school students

Gibson, who writes for AmericanDaily.com, is outraged that the Fairfax County school district prohibits recitation of the Lord's Prayer but encourages students to pray to Allah. "We have chased those Christian ideals out of our school system, and now we're bringing in Muslim ideals. It's most troubling that these children are not being given the whole story -- the true face of Islam."

    Homeschoolers Making A Difference

A recent study discovered that young adults who were homeschooled were far more likely to be involved in politics and civic activities than graduates from other forms of education. That is very good news for those of us who want our nation to return to the values of our Founding Fathers-liberty, virtue, and a deep belief in the principle of self- government.

[At Generation Joshua] We believe that homeschool students have the activist traits that are essential for both citizenship and leadership because they often had hands-on experience in the fight for homeschool freedom.

    Fixing The Public Schools

There are many wonderful and sincere Christian ministries trying to change the schools and bring back Christian values to them. These efforts are admirable. However, the following points need to be mentioned:

    1. Many believe the schools are not broken. They were created as a mechanism for humanism and that is exactly what they are today. John Dewey is recognized as the Father of modern education. Much of his changes to schools was made possible by the theory of evolution which has become the foundation to all thinking in public schools -- there is no God. John Dewey was strongly opposed to anything that would help Christian faith in children. Since this is the foundation of public schools, children from Christian homes should not attend them.

    2. If you do consider public schools broken and think fixing them is necessary, then children from Christian homes should not attend public schools until every subject and every teacher teaches from a Godly perspective. Young and unwise children in public/secular schools are being forced to learn subject matters that God has called sin and this should not be so.

    3. It is widely understood and accepted that public schools are hostile to Christianity. However, many Christian parents assume that children are called to be salt and light and witnesses. There is no Scripture to support this view. No where has God called untrained children to such a mission. And sending children out to be missionaries does not absolve the parents responsibility to provide their children with a Godly education.

    4. What is clear by Scripture is that God has called Christian parents to provide their children with an education that is based from the Bible.

"Daddy, if the Bible is so important, why don't they teach it in school?"

A review of John Dewey's book by Larry Rice at the Christian Parents website:

Democracy and Education, 1916 John Dewey's book, Democracy and Education, of 1916 is examined here from a Christian father's point of view.

Dewey knew how to change the schools so our customs would not be passed on to our children. He well knew how to destroy the transfer from generation to generation. He undertook a plan which would have been treason by the standards of George Washington and Noah Webster. Those statesmen of our country called for the continual teaching of the great stories of our land to children from the earliest age. Instead, what the children have today is the denigration of our great heros, the defaming of good men's intentions, and the omission of noble words; all for the intent of cutting off America's children from their inheritance.
