Dear Christian families:
I imagine you are wondering why you are receiving
our August e-newsletter when it is only mid-July. A
month or so ago we let you know that we would be
on the national radio ministry of Issues in Education.
That interview is airing next week on over 500 radio
stations nationwide. As a result, we are anticipating
thousands of requests for our free DVD package. So,
we are trying to get a few of our monthly duties
wrapped up early so we can concentrate on getting
those packages mailed before school starts. We
have included the link to the program in this
newsletter. If you are considering homeschooling,
we hope you will set aside some time to listen.
We have two homeschool articles this month from both a mom's
perspective and a dads. We hope you are encouraged by them. We also
have included some information on a college we think will interest
you.
Please feel free to share this e-newsletter with your
friends, family and church.
In His service,

"He who follows righteousness and mercy
Finds life, righteousness and honor." Proverbs

Why should you homeschool? Dr. Brian Ray surveyed
homeschool graduates and found that 94% kept the
faith of their parents. "From infancy you have
known the holy scriptures and they have made you
wise unto salvation in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy
3:15.

Last year, not only was I homeschooling our five
children two to twelve, I was the leader of a local
homeschool support group, Commander for the
AWANA club, I taught Sunday School once a month
and attended a woman's Bible study. Sounds
impossible doesn't it? At the end of our very busy
year, I looked back and began to doubt whether it
was productive enough from an academic
standpoint. Sure my kids were involved in many
Christian activities, Bible study and they were being
trained from a Christian worldview, but were they
learning?

If success was measured by a mother's ability to
home school her children while her husband played a
passive role, then my wife would receive a gold
medal. Sadly, the realization of my shortcomings
came only very recently, when I awoke to discover
that my oldest child was now in the fourth grade.
Seems like only yesterday when I was changing his
diapers. Scratching my head, I concluded that God
had blessed me by working wonders through my wife,
even while I slept.

| Patrick Henry College: Preparing Christian men and women to lead our nation and shape our culture with timeless biblical values... |

We went on a one-month family RV trip some time
ago, and one of our stops was Patrick Henry
College. I had heard many wonderful things
about this emerging college, but I was not
prepared for what I saw. My husband and I were
blessed. Beautiful brick buildings on a sprawling lush
campus. It was during a holiday, so we only met a
few students, but they were gracious and
courteous. We did have a chance to talk with the
founder, Dr. Michael Farris who took some time to
share with us the vision he has for PHC. If you are
going to send your children to college, why not send
them to PHC. Their mission below should be the goal
of every parent. Denise Kanter
The Mission of Patrick Henry College is to prepare
Christian men and women who will lead our nation
and shape our culture with timeless biblical values
and fidelity to the spirit of the American founding.
Educating students according to a classical liberal
arts curriculum, and training them with
apprenticeship methodology, the College provides
academically excellent baccalaureate level higher
education with a biblical world view.
P.S. Take a moment and visit PHC's Student Honor Code
(developed by the student body). What better
friends could you afford your college bound child?

What’s your goal for your child’s future? If it’s to
become a Christian, why would you want your child
to form his most basic beliefs from a non-Christian
education? What do new studies show about pre-
schooling? Parents consider your options! Denise
Kanter of Considering Homeschooling Ministry, says
when Christian parents are presented with the facts
most will choose home schooling. She is offering a
free DVD to give parents the information they need
to make an informed choice.
Also, take the time to listen to this awesome
testimony:
What is truth? Can TRUTH be taught at school or is it
too religious? Are public schools really religiously
neutral? Most Americans no longer believe there is
an absolute truth. Voddie Baucham, author of The
Ever Loving Truth- Can Faith Thrive in a Post-
Christian Culture?, has an amazing testimony.
